Mette Finn

I know deciding to start therapy can feel like a big step, and if you're on the fence, that’s totally normal. I’m here to help guide you through whatever challenges you're facing—whether it’s anxiety, depression, relationship struggles, or feeling overwhelmed with life. I see individuals ranging from early adolescence to late adulthood.  I work with individuals who are struggling with a variety of challenges ranging from anxiety, and depression, to other mood disorders. However, some of the other issues I have an interest in include personality disorders, chronic illness, chronic pain, women’s issues, pregnancy, and postpartum mental health. Through life’s ups and downs, I’m passionate about helping you navigate them with care and understanding.

As a working mom of six, I know firsthand how stressful balancing family life, personal wellness, and everything else can be. I’m here to meet you where you are. Through telehealth, I am able to meet with you in the comfort of your own space. I am here to compassionately listen and create a path forward in your life. My goal is to work with you on developing tools and strategies to manage stress, improve your emotional well-being, and regain control of your life.

If you’re ready to explore what therapy can do for you, I’ll be right here, ready to meet you where you are. Together, we can work toward feeling better, finding balance, and creating a brighter, healthier future.

Mette is available for scheduling telehealth only. Currently, in-network with UHC insurance and Aetna as of 11/15. Pending insurances on deck BCBS, CBHA, Medcost

My Approach

Chronic Illness & Pain

Living with chronic illness or pain can drain your energy and emotional strength. Feeling isolated, frustrated, or overwhelmed by medical stress is common. I provide support to help you navigate these challenges and reclaim your well-being.

Depression

Feeling worthless. Struggling to get out of bed. Loss of appetite or overeating. Sleepless nights or too much sleep. Irritability, sadness, and crying for no clear reason. Depression shows up differently for everyone, but these are common signs that it's time to seek help. You don’t have to carry this alone—reach out today.

Anxiety

Mind racing with worry. Unable to focus. Constantly feeling on edge. Avoiding situations that cause fear or stress. Anxiety can be overwhelming and isolating. Together, we’ll find ways to calm your mind and regain control of your life.

Compassionate Support

Life’s challenges are easier to face with someone in your corner. I bring empathy and warmth to every session, ensuring you feel supported and understood, no matter what you’re going through.

Family Dynamics

Balancing relationships, parenting, and personal well-being can be tough. I’ve worked with clients managing family stress, large households, and new life changes. Let's work on creating balance and healthy communication.

Non-Judgmental Listening

Struggling with guilt, shame, or confusion? I’m here to listen without judgment. We’ll work together to find understanding and solutions in a safe, compassionate space.

Mastering Telehealth: Tips and Tricks for a Smooth Session

We’ve all been there—logging into a telehealth session only to realize our camera is off, the connection is shaky, or the dog is barking in the background. While virtual therapy offers amazing flexibility, it can come with a few quirks. But don’t worry! Whether you’re a telehealth newbie or a seasoned pro, these tips will help you make the most out of your online sessions (and maybe even have a little fun along the way).

1. Find Your Chill Spot

Pick a place where you feel relaxed and comfortable. It doesn’t have to be a picture-perfect space, just somewhere you won’t be interrupted. Think cozy corner with a comfy chair, soft lighting, and maybe even a cup of tea. (Bonus points if your background isn’t your laundry pile—but no judgment here!)

2. Test Your Tech Beforehand

We all know technology has a mind of its own sometimes. Make sure to check your camera, microphone, and internet connection a few minutes before your session. That way, you can avoid the dreaded “Can you hear me now?” dance when the session starts.

3. Set the Scene

Let the people (or pets) in your household know that you’re in a therapy session. A simple “Do Not Disturb” sign or closing the door can do wonders. Pro tip: If you can’t avoid background noise, use headphones to stay focused and block out distractions.

4. Get Comfortable, But Not Too Comfortable

Yes, one of the perks of telehealth is that you can wear comfy clothes (hello, pajama pants!). But try to stay engaged—sitting up or maintaining a good posture will help you stay connected to the session. It’s tempting to lounge on the couch, but a little structure can keep your brain in “therapy mode.”

5. Be Open and Honest

If something about telehealth isn’t working for you, let your therapist know! Whether it’s feeling disconnected, not getting enough eye contact, or just finding the vibe off, speak up. Telehealth is all about flexibility, so together you can find what works best for you.

Telehealth can be an amazing way to fit therapy into your life without the commute, but like anything new, it comes with its own set of challenges. With these tips, you can make your virtual sessions smooth, productive, and even enjoyable. So, grab your comfy chair, get your tech in check, and let’s make the most out of telehealth!
