Finding Enough: The Practice of Gratitude

Gratitude has a way of softening life’s rough edges. It does not erase anxiety, sadness, or pain, but it can offer a gentle shift in perspective. When we dwell only on what is missing or broken, the weight can feel unbearable. Yet even in the midst of struggle, there is often something, however small, that can remind us of goodness, steadiness, or connection. Try pausing for just one gratitude each day. Let it be simple. Let it stand on its own. “I am grateful for my health.” “I am grateful for a warm cup of tea.” “I am grateful for a kind word.” End with a period. No qualifications, no “but.” Just gratitude.

Gratitude will not change your circumstances, but it can change how you move through them. It can create a sense of balance, a reminder that alongside what is broken, there is also enoughness. Today, I invite you to rest in that enoughness, to notice that joy and peace can be found in small, ordinary moments.

Self-Care Corner

Life can feel busy and heavy at times, but small practices can bring steadiness and comfort:

  •  Set your intention. Gently ask yourself what matters most right now and let your choices reflect those values.

  •  Step outside. A few minutes of fresh air or a short walk can clear the mind and calm the body.

  •  Honor your boundaries. Knowing and expressing your limits is an act of self-respect and care.

  •  Pause to breathe. When life feels full, take a slow breath and remember you have the power to choose your pace.

  •  Give grace. To yourself, to others. None of us are perfect—we’re all learning as we go.
